Experimentation.....

The young man of William Emmbers would laugh as he stood staring at a vast area of earth, a patch that just so invited him to move forward with tantalizing interest. He stood toward the southern end of the campus in the middle of a grassy field, a set of white robes adorned over his general clothes to make him look....Other worldly. Right, like he needed robes for that.

The wind would sweep up, the cloth of his robes tossing around at his ankles as he looked up into the sky, bright blue in hue, crystalline, as if it could never be shattered. Smirking, William would then reach into his robes, withdrawing a book he had found earlier whilst rummaging through the vast library of the arcane school. Flipping open to some random page, the face of the book could only be momentarily seen, some ancient language scrawled across it with several symbols, " Runeology, the study of basic shapes into corresponding energy patterns to form basic chemical compilations." William would mutter, thumbing through the book for something to peak his interest. Suddenly, he would stop, his index finger falling upon a page of which he found swelling....Delicious.

Setting the book down, he would reach to the other side of his robes, withdrawing his sword, hidden beneath the cloth so well it would only be visible from being withdrawn. Quickly memorizing the page, he would then take his glasses off, tucking them inside of the folds of cloth around him, and gently place his sword down toward his foot, standing in an almost dance position, his sword at an angel to the ground, bending Williams wrist, his free hand held into the air as if he were awaiting to catch something in it. " Runic dance, draconic embrace..."

With a sudden grace and speed he had not shown before, William would appear to be removed from the visible spectrum. How silly, his speed would only make presumption to the poor eye that this were so. His sword down, William landed on the ground, spinning in a circle, cutting a groove into the ground around him. Launching up once again, his body would back flip, landing on the line of the circle, then move forward, cutting down through the circle to bisect it. He would make several more of these moves, cutting articulations into the ground as he moved, his body gliding with a grace he could only display with a sword. Finally landing on the ground in the center of the circle again, his sword would sink into the moist earth to stay. " Well, I must say, not to shabby"
Falling to the ground now, his hands would place on two intersecting lines in the ground, the enchantment written in the book moving fluidly from Williams lips, sounding almost like sing song. With every third syllable, he would pulsate mana into the rune inscription, the pulsations sending a noxious gas into the air. William would pay no attention toward the gas, his torrent of fluid chants moving the mana through out the rune like blood through veins. Suddenly the wind would stop completely, silence befalling the area.

In an explosion of air, a swirling cyclone would erupt over William, engulfing his body, then the entire rune swallowing the area in flying dust and debris. Lightening strikes would start to pound the ground and air around, a roaring completely infiltrating the area, easily heard from all over the campus. The cyclone would slowly separate out, clearing up and dissipating into nothing. Finally, visible on the ground above the rune would no longer rest William Emmbers, but a massive creature hidden in the settling dust. Large, bat like wings would then erupt from the dust, blowing it away with a single pulsation, revealing an enormous scarlet, streamlined dragon curled up on the rune. Lifting its head, the new creation would look around the campus, cat like eyes darting here and there at what appeared to the creature as its new nesting grounds.

Grim saw the lightning as it had flashed across the sky in front of her. The thundering boom was soon to follow, and she wondered what could be happeneing at the Uni. The path that lead up to the front doors was empty, without a soul in sight. It was still a ways to the door, but she kept her pace, stride long and light, down the beaten road.

She had been told about the University while she was on her trip in India, and she figured it might be worth a check. Grim was always looking for new ways to understand people and their worlds, and a place, more or less, a University, even, that taught the art, defidently was a curiousity-striking cord that she planned to tune to the best of her abilities.

Grim wrapped her arms a little tighter around herself, wind blowing through her old trench coat to torment her skin. Ever since going to India, she had been obbsessed with Nirvana. She hadn't NOT heard Kurt Cobain screaming in her ear, or the songs on the album Nevermind memorized, for almost a week. She knew that Nirvana was a whole different story in India, but that was the way she liked her music. Grungy.

She paused the song to listen to the sudden calm that swept the area, and wondered, in an even more curious state, what was going on at the school. Some testing? A spell-gone-bad? Come to think of it...She had never called or let any one know she was coming.

The next cusiousity to run through her head was, 'I wonder what they will think of a vampire in their school?..."

As it would appear so, so it would not be. The form of the dragon would dissipate into nothing....Well as to dissapate would mean more or less die. A great scream would release from the throat of the scarlet beast, arc becoming the shape of which its back bent upward, apparent that pain could only reside in this creature as of right now. Falling to the side, the beast would knock into a building, shaking the very foundations of the entire complex, to the near extend of removing walls from where they stood, and taking that ever so lenient way of the wall towards it's impact, the solid stones only budging but a fraction of there size.

In reaction to the creatures death, flames would erupt from the being, completely engulfing the southern courtyard of the university. Dieing unnaturally fast, the fire would soon disintegrate into nothing, leaving the court yard ash ridden with a haggard, torn up William standing in the middle....To stand would to kneel, as he rested only one foot on the ground, his left knee pushing to keep his body in the air wile both hands oppose the force of gravity upon the hilt of his sword, still stuck in the ground....."Need.....More.....Mana...." slipped from his mouth.

Half delirious, half determination, his right hand would fall to the ground, mana slowly seeping from his finger tips as the previous mana would recycle into his body again through ambience. The slowly draining mana would react almost as liquid nitrogen, the key move developed by William now taking effect into the ground around him, sinking deep below him and all around, like a disease, the grass freezing and dieing from turning to abs zero in a matter of the time it took the mana to touch its surface. With the vibrating molecules now completely stopped, the kinetic energy would be sapped into ambient mana, slowly creeping back toward him in chilly veins in the ground, visibly by a dark blue, the aurora of the mana pure with no energy strength. Reaching his body, the mana would absorb, the final of the recycled mana streaming into his body via the air. With a sudden blast of energy from him, he would begin a new verse of the draconic enchantment, a slight Greek modification added toward the fifth syllables. A fiery blast would erupt around him as dark, tainted mana shattered around him, floating in the air, appearing from nothing. These masses of nothing would then gather into one point like shattered glass moving toward a magnet. This chunk of mana manifests into the most odd creature as to be seen yet, another human form, transparent a air, yet creating heat frequencies hot enough for the human eye to see. This creature would then step forward, and kneel down into William, absorbing into his body. With the sudden blast of mana, he would scream up, his head lifting into the air, the absorbing of the mana extremely painful.

In this, the process could start again, direction reacted, the cyclonic activity now in front of William as to on top of him. With a final dissipation, the next dragons appearance would not be as a sitting creature, but a blast into the air of blue and green, the massive blurred shape moving in a circular motion around the rune, then coming to slam into the ground behind William.

Claws of steel would sink into the ground, each the size of a human being, connected into half sized skinlet toes. Moving up the ankle portion would be of a very acute angel as the creature leaned forward, moving into near parallel to the ground shins, connected by knee into a think thigh that reaches into the side of the body.

Arms from the body would fold to either side, silk like wings bending in to the alcove that acted as there resting space. A spikes spine, blue in color with a leathery looking skin would stretch down to a greenish underbelly. Covering toward the neck as well, this skin would move up to a set of three horns, two adorning the ear setting, bat like in value, and a center to place just over the forehead. A scaled division would cross the face of the beast, violet orbs gazing down an elongated snout imbedded with razors of short capacities.

The beast would release a single roar, its body arcing into the air as it would move so, the being of William collapsing into the ground as the creature launched itself into the air. Pondering down upon the shrinking structures, the dragon would move up, free fall with its head moving down, and place three well aimed shots of blazing energy toward the school with its throaty voice.

*The Dragons attack was flying to the school, seemingly unstoppable. The School had protection from accidental magical problems, but this one was intentional (At least from the dragon’s point of view) and thusly the school would not survive this hit. However, all three attacks just stopped in the air, seemingly without anything to cause this result. The fact was there was a man in a white robe at the front of each of the blazing orbs. They each had armored arms and their faces where covered in a full helmet. They each had a spear with was producing a white energy shield, the white handles slowly fracturing from the strain of the energies they were holding back. A third figure appeared, this one in a black robe and holding a sword, the being burst from the ground moving at an immense speed as he flew at the dragon. Finally the being slammed into the chest of the dragon, blood spread and sprayed from the dragon as the sword was buried deep into the dragon. As the dragon faded, so would the orbs on target with the university, and all 5 beings fell (Dragon included in that count).*

"Well Mr. Emmbers that could have been bad."

*Elrith was standing there, looking at Ember’s handiwork; the other beings were the guards of the University. They were some of the most powerful and highly trained soldiers in the entire province, and had protected the university for centuries. Elrith’s voice was calm, and cheerful, even a hint of admiration. The entire fact that William had survived that spell at his apparent level of magical training was astounding. Elrith was looking at the dragon, his eyes finally visible. They where like the eyes of a blind man, his pupils white and his iris silver. They widened as he saw the 4 guards fly away from the beast, it was still alive. Elrith rose a singular hand at the beast, in his palm formed a tiny orb that shot off into the distance, it would impact the Dragon in the center of its temple, a wave of silver electricity washing over it. The wave was magic moving throughout its body, unraveling the bonds that kept the beast tied to existence, this would cause the dragon to vanish, dying in a way or simply being dispelled.*

"The former Headmaster would have expelled you for this, however, I am more lenient then my predecessor. Mr. Emmbers, please do consult the faculty next time you attempt this level of magic again."

*He would then hit William mid torso, the magic restoring his body minutely; however it restored his mana reserves fully. The only point of that spell was to keep him from ending up like the dragon from lack of mana to bond his body to this realm.*

Grim would start running as she neared the school, sudden flames shooting into the sky. Nirvana was no longer playing on her IPod, but rather, "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry. It made no sense to her, either.

"What the?..." The flames had stopped while her feet tramlped the earth, she slowed to a fast walk, to soon be at the open doors of the University. Her feet guided her more than mind, as they always did when she was in a new place, and she found herself hiding behind an opening onto a battle-feild looking area, with two men towards the far side that were talking. She paused her music, not having to even look, took out her headphones, and shoved them all into her inner pocket. She couldn't help but wonder what had happened, if it was anything serious or not. No one seemed injured from where she stood, but distance could mean life and death with something she knew so little about.

She stayed put by the door, wondering and waiting to see what happened. Her original plan was to go to whoever was in charge and talk to them, but....

"The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry."

The buildings and its structure seemed friendly enough, though Grim had seen no one on her way in. Her eyes faded to a coal-black pit as her stomach made nervous knots inside her. Should she ask these guys if they could point her in the right direction? What would they think of a vampire in their school? Grim didn't care what they thought of her personally, but race could mean a difference in a beating heart and a grave. Grim stayed where she was, hidden in shadows of an unknown place, the knots making braids out of her stomach and her mind racing to what she would, or should, do.

Grim had the eerie feeling of some one near. Not watching her, nessicarily, but a pressence close and unknown. She turned her head just a tad to see a small person, perhaps a child, out of her perifial vision. The indent into the wall that the door made, where Grim now stood, hid her from the peron's view. They, too, seemed to be watching the field.

'Who are those guys?' Grim couldn't help but think. Her stomach desided to be a freshly-caught fish and felt floppy and tight inside her. She took a small shallow but silent sigh, drug it out, held the air in, and then released slowly, still silent, to loosen the knots and lacings in her gut. The two men were still talking, one in white and one in black. Perhaps they were teachers at this school? Grim didn't want to interupt, nor did she want to startle any one. Was is even safe to be here? Her right fist tightened in her outside pocket, her fingernails digging into the fleshy part of her palm. 'Perhaps I should go some where else?...' Grim remembered the person behind her. Did they have magical abbilities, too? If so, how much? What dammage could they do to a person like her? Grim didn't want to risk it. Growing up in a magic-teaching Uni might as well be like taking Assassination classes as soon as you could breath. She would hate to be assassinated. In a place she knew next to nothing about.

Grim swallowed nothing but dry air as she waited. Should she wait? Or should she just act lost and get out? It was none of her buisness being there. But her curiosity made her feet stay where they were, in a shadowed corner, stuck between magic and probably even more powerful magic, an outsider in an inside place.

His reaction to being hit would remain stout, even though the wind compleatly expelled from his body, leaving him to attempt to fight for air as he stood. Yet the recycling Mana would be to slow for his body, and he would hit the ground with his knees, his arms quickly moving up in order to catch his sword for balance and support.

Upon registering to the mans words, William would look up, his violet orbs swiveling up toward Elrith, sweat slowly falling along in beads across his skin to his chin to leave his bodies presence, "I.....Needed......To see........My limits............" He panted.

Slowly rising to his feet, the full extense of the Mana would enter into his body finally, the extent in a greater quantaty then before for the stolen energy would not return to the frozen earth. Stretching his fingers some, he would find that the newly found Mana would appear to radiate from his being for a moment or so, before compleatly retreating into his body. "I do apologize, I hadn't realized such a summoning would be so dangerious. I had heard dragons were rather docile when not provoked.....I guess I was wrong. Or perhaps the creature found being summoned such provocation, I am not sure..." His words would more drift off, first talking toward Elrith, then toward himself, a pondering look crossing his face. The rune would now be ruined for the fact that the grass around it had shattered upon being touched by air, "Ummm....."

Looking toward Elrith, William would slowly turn, "Time to go uhhh...Train I guess...." And with this he would turn, looking off and seeing the sets of eyes watching him.

Yes, one magnificent part of William would be set into his eyes, compleat and apart from all others, he saw not only what light permitted him to see, but levels of energy through emitation of ones body. In looking forward, he saw several walls, a couple of trees, and two occupants of moderate size away looking toward with interest, "Oi!" he would call, curious as to who they might be.

Grim startled at the call. She blinked, looked over her shoulder at the young boy, and stayed in the shadows. Was he talking to her? Could he see her? What had happened here, any way? Grim scooted more into the corner, shadows almost consuming her. She edged toward the door, trying to...

What was she trying to do? Get a better look? Kill herself? Oh, endless possibilities.....

Or perhaps just one.

Grim's stomach started to weave it and her intestines together again. She stayed where she was, eyes slowing turning a light, milky blue, about the only thing one could see in the shadows that hid her. The boy behind her wasn't moving, wasn't making a sound. Was the man only talking to her? Did it make a difference? Grim sat silently pondering her thoughts. One at a time, one at a time....

So if he was talking to her, what would she do? Walk out there and introduce herself? Walk away? Undesided.

The boy behind her. What of him? Was the guy out in the feild talking to the kid by any chance? Unless there was some one behind him, then it was them alone. So a 50/50 the dude out in the feild who had yelled was talking to the kid.

But a 50/50 he was talking to Grim, too. And a 50/50 to if he was talking to them both. Or maybe he was talking to the other guy in the feild?...

Grim didn't move.

*Elrith was walking away, his vest that he had worn before was replaced by a long trench coat without sleeves, when he had first met Mr. Emmbers he had been in a mush more formal looking vest. The other difference was that two swords hung from opposite sides of his waist, one the purests black katana, the other a white petal of a katana. He stoped at hearing this seemingly agitated. However when he turned around he was smiling.*

"Yes Mr. Embers, training is a good thing, come by my Office at about 9 tonight, the lybrainans can tell you how. I'll teach you what went wrong with that spell."

*With that he turned around again and moved on throughout the yard, heading to do his varrious rounds about the university. He nodded to the other two that where there. If the one with the blue eyes was to aemt to read his mind, he would be unable to read certain areas of his mind, but he would also hear the Headmaster's voice welcome him to the University. Odd that he knew of the man, howeve, he only knew if the man attemted to read his mind, as he could track the link back to Kenneth.*

\Lost in his own quarries, William would move his hand out, sweeping across his field of vision, "You two. C'mere."

With a sweeping hand, William would wave away the already walking Elrith, "I know what the problem was, don't worry." Keeping his head forward, Will would watch the two and there cautious behavior. Spinning on the spot with the realization that his word was finished here, William would snatch up his sword, movements so swift it would only look to have disappeared into nothing, the blade sliding straight into its sheath to disappear into the folds of his robes. Bouncing to his other foot, William would then make move meant across the field, rather forgetting about Elrith for the moment, the simple fact that he knew trouble was out of reach left him with little care to the appointment he now held with the man. It should be soon to know that arrogence in this place would be unbefitting toward such a student as himself, yet William felt compleatly empowered when on the university grounds.

Coming to a sudden stop on the ground, he would look up only to notice that with the sudden reactions of mana, cloud cover came quickly, soon to be followed by rain. Pacing quickly, William would then make pass to the child of Ken, his hand motioning with out him looking for Ken to follow. In time, William would stop in the door way, turning to wave at Ken to get a move on as he would pass into the building, standing right next to the supposedly hidden vampire, "Shadows do you little good here."

"They have their purposses."

Grim let her eyes fade to a bloody crimson as she took a small step out of the corner. She was not supprised nor impressed with the man, but still wary of where she should be. The newest voice to enter her conscience had given her an ok, but that didn't mean she wouldn't be looked down upon by others.

Grim cast a careful glance before turning to the man. "I'm curious; what happened here?" She blinked slowly, the rain pouring down outside. She shoved her hands deeper into her pockets, brushing the inside.

"PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC, WHITE BOY, PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC RIGHT, PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC, WHITE BOY, LAY DOWN THE BOOGIE AND PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC 'TIL YOU DIE."

Grim closed her eyes, bowed her head, slid her right hand into her coat, and jerked the headphones out of her IPod.

She swallowed hard before she said, in a perfectly smooth voice, "Sorry. Volume must have been turned up when I was sulking in your doorway shadows." She then looked up to the man, not even a hint of a blush on her face.

Yawning, compleatly oblivious for his compleat and utter human nature, William would neither no name nor purpose towards the two creatures of around him. Turning and stepping back, Will would almost react as a child would, his hands flying through the air to slap on his front some, the re-energization of his newly found mana pumping through him, creating a slightly hyper sensation through out his body, "New students?" He said cheerfully to the two, his eyes darting back and forth from Grim to Ken. He had been there for only about a day, and so far, found the entire university to be dull, classes not having started yet with the new headmaster an all, "Have you guys found any new places to eat? This university seems to be stuck in the dark ages with its old world foods no one dares eat."

William felt rather talkitive right now, and noticed it almost instantly, his voice dropping to allow those he were speaking with to speak as well, "Uhh, srry, I didn't catch your names, are you new students?"

"Curiosity. I came to learn something new. Not nessicsarily magic and how to use it, but more...Learn about the people and their lives, I suppose." Grim shrugged. "Never been here before, so I wouldn't know where to eat. I'm Grim." She chewed on the inside of her cheek, watching the rain and not anything else. She was obliviose to the man's movement, and had eyes only for the rain pouding the arena outside. She had barely caught what he had said.

'Cookies...' The word was a whisper in her head, a nudge towards hunger. 'cookies...' Grim's lip curled up, showing one of her fangs, and thought in discust, 'If I have to eat one of those spinach cookies ever again, I will kill myself.' 'COOKIES.' Grim let her lip relax, twirled the ring in the other side of her lip with her tongue out of bored habit, and her eyes faded to an electric blue shadow.

*One of the University Guards walked up near the trio, this one carried no weapons and his helmet was not a closed one like the others. He seemed to have been there for a little while . His head was empty o thoughts, to be honest he was a magical illusion that was ment to assist the other beings at the university. He stood with his hands behind his back.*

"If i might make a suggestion sir, there is a portal to the town center of Nede. There is a restaurant, Eclipse i believe is its name, that i hear is quite good. The portal is on the far west wall of the Calcure Building."

*With this the being indicated to the building on their right and then proceded with his introduction.*

"I am Farbol, the assistant of the University, merely call my name while on the grounds an i will be there to assist you. Now if you will excuse me, i have a few other duties to attend to."

*With that he just vanished, never moved from that spot, he just vanished in a small puff of white smoke. Gone.*

(This character isa NPC that anyone can use for anything tht they might find a use for here on the University grounds.)

Jumping at the sudden entrance of the one known as Farbol, William would find himself curious as to why the guards reason to be eavsdropping onto there conversation, "Oh...Umm, thank you then."

Seeing the look of hunger on the boys face, William was sure he may not want to head on over into town, "You guys wanna go catch a bite to eat over in Nede, or perhaps just find some grub at the cafeteria. It may not taste good to me, but if your hungry, it will take care of ya."

Once again, Williams oblivious human mind would take no notice to the actions of hate toward spinich cookies, nor would his nose detect the oder of the cookies, though the thought would come close to making him want to heave. Glancing over at the vampire Grim, Will would come to question, "Umm, I think you may find it more....Well find better resources to fit your type in Nede..." He had no intention in angering a vampire, specially in an area so abundent in ambient mana. She could probably distroy him with a simple flick of her fingers.

Looking back down to the young one, Ken, William would then wonder what such a child would be doing at the university. Desciding not to ask questions, he would ask, "So, to the portal or to the lunch room?"

Grim let go of a tight but silent sigh, eyes glazing over in a cloudy film. Was that all that she was refurred to as, a "type"? She couldn't care less anymore about what people thought of her or her life choices, or anything she was or did, but still. She was a something, not just a "type" of something.

Poor human.

She desided to agree with the smaller child, Ken. "Ecplise sounds...Good." She had eaten her more-than-fair share of vegan-ized food in India, but she didn't wish to be rude to such nice people. They had, after all, in a way, sort of accepted her into their society. What kind of a guest would be she be if she didn't go along?

Grim rolled her right foot up on her toes, then back on her heel, then back again, as if she were keeping a beat or stretching her calf muscle. What would the town be like, if this was the Uni? It had to be just as impressive, full of wonder....And shadows. Grim had to smile to herself. These people and -a broader smile- different types of beings would make for some interesting conversations and friends....

Smieling, William would turn, pointing in some gay anime fashion, "To the portal then!" Taking his steps lightly, William would exit the building, raising a hand into the air. A flash of blue light would bubble around, making him and a good five foot radius around him invulnerable to the rain. Turning, he would look to the other two, "Nifty huh. Learned it just the other day while looking through the library. Mana is so wonderfull" Then, turning on his heel, William would then take the lead toward the direction of the portal, "Lunch is on me!"

Grim would stop peddling her foot, twisting her lip ring, and finally look away from the rain, a look of "huh-wha?...." on her face. She looked at William, then at Ken, then back again. Not swayed in the least by his blue bubble (She sure would hate to pop it...) she cocked one eyebrow at William, a question in her eyes.

She hadn't been paying attention. What did he say? What was going on? Who was what where? She looked back towads Ken, her face taking it's professional apathetic look. She lowered her eyebrow, letting the other raise up in a trouble-maker grin.

Grim stepped out into the rain, letting it ripple down her coat to the ground, as she followed Ken. Might as well. She didn't have anywhere else to go, and she might meet some more people in the town or the restaurant. She might get to know William and Ken better, too. And who knows? Maybe they had Pixie Sticks she could snort off the table, or coffee to smell, or perhaps some of those really greasy but SOOO GOOD french fries she had always drooled over in other places. She withdrew a long red ribbon from one of her pockets and tied back her wet hair, keeping stide with both Ken and William. Who knew? Maybe Eclipse held even more awsomeness than the Uni...Places to go, people to see. Things to eat. She finished tying back her hair and shoved her hands back into her pockets, swishing her bangs out of her eyes to the right. Whatever Nede or Eclipse held, she wanted ot see it, feel it, and over all, LIVE it.
