There are also the tattoos of 3 sets of wings on his back, each wing differing in appearance then any of the others. The top left is the eagle-like silver wing of a seraphim, the mid left is the heron-like golden wing that was once half of the sign of the Templar Knights. The bottom left is the white dove wing that was once part of the personal seal of Andoras Kale, former Mage Captain of the Templar Knights. The top right wing is the black reptilian wing that is of a demon of the lowest circles of hell. The mid-right is the wing-like shadow that was part of the personal crest of Razigoth, former guild leader of The Shadows Eternal Guild. The lower right wing is pale blue, reptilian in nature, and is believed to be the wing of the ice dragon that was the sigil of the barbarian clan of which Zanrael belonged. Background(Unfinished):

The story of Osgoth is not a single tale, but the stories of several individuals that spans the vast scope of history. Here begins the tale of Zanrael, one of the first men to walk the earth.

In the beginning, before civilization and before man had begun to explore the globe, a war ravaged the world. A war, between angels and demons, fought for the right to control the fate of the world. In a sense, this fight continues today, inside the hearts and minds of all sentient beings, but, in this time, these battles were not the philosophic debates we have come to know. In that age, Angels and Demons walked the realm, finding men and women that would aid both sides. Scholars have called this the Sin War, for it was a war for the sins (and therefore the souls) of man. During the war, a barbarian by the name of Zanrael arose, siding with the Angels. Zanrael was a giant of a man, towering over ten feet tall, and the sight of him in battle, wielding a Angelic broadsword and a battleaxe of his own make, each taller than average man, was enough to unnerve even the staunchest Demonic followers as well as more than a few Demons. Over the course his lifetime, Zanrael befriended an Angel by the name of Mori.

In an act of trust and compassion, Mori taught the man the Angelic Language, which by its very nature controlled the arcane might of the Angels. This practice was deemed to dangerous by the upper echelons of the Angelic ranks, for they feared a user of this holy magic turning to the side of the Demons, and using their own might against them. One Angel in particular, whose name was Arcanis, feared this gift so much that he devised a plan to rid himself of both the barbarian and a Demon who had begun to gain ground and momentum in the war. The Demon Gruul, a fierce, merciless creature, spawned from the lowest pits of Hellfire, became famed for wielding the dark blade Astarael, the Angelwing Razor, an ebon great sword said to have been sharpened on the wing bones of fallen, and sometimes still living Angels, honing the blade to an edge said to be capable of cutting through any armor or shield and even through the arcane wards of the Seraphim themselves, was the target of this plot. Arcanis set his plan into motion, sending the barbarian tribe, of which Zanrael was the chief, to Gruul’s stronghold, and he waited. As the barbarians assaulted the demonic host, the two generals met in combat. Their duel lasted for what seemed like an age of the Earth, both fighters becoming bloodied but no less fierce. In a particularly powerful blow, a shard of Astarael broke off the blade, and imbedded itself into Zanrael’s pelvic bone.

Finally, when a chance came, Zanrael let loose a blast of holy power, knocking the demon to the ground, and as the giant of a man stood over the Demon, poised to deliver the final blow, Arcanis began an incantation from afar. As the man’s sword pierced the demon’s breast, impaling his foul heart with sacred steel, the Seraphim released his spell, transforming the man, a warrior for all that was good and holy, into stone. Arcanis, in he arrogance, did not account for the deadly thrust into the demon’s heart, and without knowing it, imprisoned the spirit of Gruul inside of the statue that was now all that remained of the barbarian. With another incantation, the Seraphim transported the statue into the heart of a nearby mountain, where he thought it would never be found, and therefore, never used against him. Zanrael would remain in stone for eons, his spirit locked in combat with the demon, vying for control of the body should it ever be discovered and reawakened. Mori’s friendship cost Zanrael his freedom and he was later condemned by the Seraphim for having violated the decree that forbade the teaching of the sacred language of the Angels to any being, and stripped of almost all of his powers, and transformed into a small nekomata child before being transmuted to stone. Centuries later, he would ironically be found by creatures of the night, known as vampires, and, with his memory gone, he would adopt the name of Angel Mori, and create his own story.

While Mori and Zanrael slumbered in their earthen prisons, the Sin War came to a halt, for neither side could gain enough ground long enough to finish the conflict. Indeed, the conflict itself was destroying the race of humanity, so both sides made a wager, a sort of standing bet for the rights to what became known as Sanctuary as well as the souls of all of those who had never chosen a side. The winner would hold enough sway to utter destroy the other if it so chose. Part of the pact, however, was an agreement that allowed both sides to indirectly influence the minds of men. In the chaos that occurred as a result of the stalemate, Arcanis stole away a small sect of humanity, spiriting them away to a small island far away from any other land mass. Some think he did it as his way of safeguarding humanity from further influence from Demonic sources, yet time revealed his intentions for they really were. During the war, Arcanis began to view himself as a being worthy of worship, a god, and his stolen sect provided the basis for his new “faith” Once upon the island of Aselia, Arcanis created a new religious society, and he renamed himself Merg’Tal. Creating a barrier composed of his mightiest enchantments and most powerful incantation, Arcanis sealed off the island from the rest of the world.

Over the centuries, two events of note would occur: first, as the society shift, a natural order was established, forming a tight caste system. These castes were the Blessed, members of the clergy and chosen noble families, as well as the Templar Knights, Arcanis’s religious enforcers, the Nobility, the wealthy families of merchants and craftsmen, and the Commoners, which consisted of those without power, mainly the menial workers, the faithless, and the unwanted. The city, composed of three levels, fit into this caste system. The upper level, a giant platform which hovered a mile over the city, housed the Blessed, literally elevating them in the eyes of everyone. It consisted of the Templar Knights Academy and Barracks, the Temple of Light, as well as various gardens and fields, emulating the natural world. Due to the status required to even set foot upon its hallowed soil, the upper level held few houses, though the few it did were glamorous manors. The mid-level was built upon a plateau that dominated the geography of the island. This area held the central city of Aselia, as well as the homes of the nobility. The lower level, which housed the commoners, was little better than a slum, save for one area. Deep within the plateau, far from light and the eyes of the Templar Knights, was built the guildhall of the Shadows Eternal. Consisting primarily of commoners, though a few nobles did grace the its shadowed corridors. The members of this organization, embittered by the enforced dogma of light, resolved to find another means to power. In the darkness, they concocted the Doctrine of Eternal Night, which posits that darkness is the only truly eternal concept in the universe, and as such, it must be the greatest. Needless to say, they did not exclaim this ideology in public, else they would be labeled heretics, and subject to torments best left unspoken.

The second event, which marked Arcanis’s first true act as a “god”, was to create an Angel. Through sorceries and secrets unknown, Arcanis created a lesser version of himself. This new celestial being, dubbed Sejanus, was similar to Arcanis in that he was Angelic and possessed seemingly boundless arcane power, yet when Arcanis was cruel, Sejanus was compassionate. Instead of creating another version of himself, Arcanis succeeded in reproducing one of the defining acts of a god. He created autonomous life, devoid of his own persona. In a way, Sejanus was a mixed blessing. He thwarted Arcanis’s plans on expanding his empire, but in another, he became closer to his believers because of it. In particular, Sejanus developed a close relationship with the Kale family, eventually leading him to form a close relationship with Andoras and his twin brother Kieran, as well as their younger sister, Tierney.

Innates
Due to Osgoth’s unique makeup, most of his innate abilities are enabled by the souls inside of him. Each soul has two types of benefits, depending on whether or not that particular spirit (or spirits as the case may be) is being channeled at the time. Channeling a spirit is instantaneous and can occur at anytime Osgoth wishes. When channeling a spirit, Osgoth’s personality changes slightly, causing him to act more similar to them

Osgoth
----Eyes of the Shadowed: Due to his position as the leader (and last remaining member) of the Shadows Eternal Guild, Osgoth is blessed with an ability that alters his vision, allowing him to instantly bypass all illusions as well as gifting him with to alternate forms of sight. The first is thermal, allowing him to view the world as variations of heat, with hot items, such as living people and creatures, appearing to him as if he were viewing them under a bright sunlit day. The second form of sight is more peculiar. Called Negative Vision, Osgoth’s eyes can invert the light he sees, making black become white, red become blue, etc.
----Wingfoot: Despite Osgoth’s stature, he is very quick on his feet. This is a result of a combination of natural genetic make-up and years of training.

Arcanis
--Normal
----Angelic Magic: Due to the method of his binding, the soul of Arcanis, along with his memories and knowledge, is at the service of Osgoth. He is able to use the arcane might of the Angels at his whim. This magic is positively aligned and any attacks made with it are light-based unless otherwise stated.
----Angelic Traits: Osgoth is unaffected by (and able to use, if the effect centers on an item) any effect that prevents access or use by non-Angelic beings.

--Channeled
----Angelic Aura: When channeling the soul of Arcanis, his ability to cast Angelic magic is heightened extremely, and his very aura becomes infused with positive energy, causing any being within three feet of him to rapidly heal, if they are living and not tainted in some way by Demonic influence. The aura is inimical to undead as well as those tainted by evil or by a demonic presence.
----Angelic Physique: When channeling the soul of Arcanis, Osgoth can assume the form of an angel, increasing his strength, speed, and stamina to the peak of mortal levels. Also while in this form, seraphic wings sprout from his back, allowing him to fly.
----Personality Shift: While channeling the soul of Arcanis, Osgoth becomes more condescending and arrogant, as if Arcanis was speaking through him. These attributes return to normal when Osgoth stops channeling Arcanis.

Gruul
--Normal
----Summon Hellfire: By drawing on the innate ability possessed by Gruul, Osgoth can summon a burning force from the lowest pits of Hell. This fire can either be natural, similar to fire elemental manipulation, or he can infuse it with demonic essence, causing the fire to become crimson in color, as well as making it semi-sentient. Hellfire will attempt to consume anything to touches, and only a positively aligned force can put it out.
----Demonic Aura: With Gruul’s spirit caged inside of him, Osgoth has gained an immunity to fire based attacks. Indeed, bathing him in flame will only serve to heal him.
----Demonic Traits: Osgoth is unaffected by (and able to use, if the effect centers on an item) any effect that prevents access or use by non-Demonic beings.
--Channeled
----Demonic Aura (Enhanced): When channeling the infernal soul of Gruul, Osgoth’s very aura begins to blaze with hellfire. Anything within 3 feet of him becomes immersed in its unholy fury. Also, while in this state, if Osgoth is attacked by any form of fire based attack, not only will it heal him, but it will cause his to go into an enhanced state of power as if all of the energy in the attack became pure mana that was infused into his being.
----Personality Shift: When channeling Gruul’s unholy spirit, Osgoth becomes more sadistic and bloodthirsty, as if the demon were breaking through the seal that holds him. These attributes return to normal when Osgoth stops channeling Gruul.

Andoras Kale
--Normal
----Savant’s Gift: By communing with Andoras, Osgoth is able to gain access to the sage’s vast collection of knowledge, ranging from psychology and biology to arcane magic and psionic abilities.
----Flash Movement: With Andoras’s help, Osgoth is able to move through areas of bright illumination just as a shadow dancer is able to move through darkness.
--Channeled
----Thoughtcast: When summoning forth the soul of Andoras, Osgoth gains the mage captain’s ability to cast magic that requires verbal components without speaking. This ability allows him to use Angelic magic through use of thought alone.
----Personality Shift: When channeling the soul of Andoras, Osgoth becomes more kind and compassionate, as well as gaining the sage’s love of literature. These attributes return to normal when Osgoth stops channeling Andoras.

Zanrael
--Normal
----Strength of Will: Zanrael was a god among men in terms of physical strength, and he has imparted a small portion of that strength onto Osgoth.

--Channeled
----Strength of Will(Enhanced): When channeling Zanrael’s soul, Osgoth taps into the man’s immense physical strength, gaining its full breath. With this ability active, Osgoth can easily bend and punch through 1” thick adamantine plate.
----Size Matters: When tapping into the giant’s soul, Osgoth can alter his physical form, granting him increased weight, stature, and reach, without the cost of speed.

Razigoth Nezzera
--Normal
----Pass into Shadow: Without the aid of Razigoth, Osgoth can only jump through shadows and darkness a limited time per day. Razigoth’s presence allows him to bypass this restriction, and allows him to move through shadow so long as he has the strength to do so.
---Death Ward: During the history of the Shadows Eternal, the soul each Guildmaster has been harnessed after death to provide power and guidance to later leaders, however, during the climactic battle above Aselia, Razigoth absorbed almost all of the power left in these souls, leaving them as little more than figments and remnants. Another role for which these harnessed souls are used is to prevent the death of the current Guildmaster from succumbing to effects that rend souls or remove them from the body unwillingly. While these remnants no longer have the power to help Osgoth in their normal fashion, they retain the ability to protect his spirit at the cost of their own.
--Channeled
----Aura of Darkness: In life, Razigoth gained the ability to manipulate his inner darkness to the point where he could turn his aura into an inky blackness through which no light can pass. He imparts this ability upon Osgoth when his spirit is channeled.
----Personality Shift: When channeling Razigoth, Osgoth becomes apathetic and slightly insane. He has a tendency to either react either uncaringly to a given situation, or go into a sociopathic rage that could cause him to kill indiscriminately without care.

Weapons

Twin Adamantine Long Sword: These long swords, which Osgoth almost always carries on his person are made of adamantine, and are lightly enchanted to protect them from heat and breakage. The swords are four feet long in total, with the blade being three feet, four inches long, the crossguard, which is unadorned, being one inch long, and the hilt being seven inches long. The blades are straight and double edged, and the swords themselves are balanced more toward the blade to accommodate Osgoth’s natural strength and style.

Staff of the Elements: This staff once belonged to Andoras, and is an heirloom of his now ended family. The staff itself is made of an ivory wood and is six feet long. The headpiece is shaped like a frozen flame, and is expertly carved from a very large ruby, about the size of an orange. It is meant to act as a magical focus, allowing greater potency in most spells, primarily those that affect earth, wind, fire, and air, as well as aiding in the power of healing spells. This item is currently residing within the tomb of Andoras, upon the demi-plane of Aselia.

Armor

Osgoth currently wears only a thin mithral chain mail vest underneath his traveling clothes.

Implements

Shard of Astarael: A shard from the legendary Angelwing Razor. This shard, despite its age, still retains the legendary sharpness of the sword from which it was cast off. It currently has no meaningful abilities in the realm of combat.

Mitra’s Amulet: A memento of Mitra. This amulet possesses the power to restraint psionic powers when worn. It is currently worn by Alastor to prevent his manifesting power from accidentally hurting him or anyone else.

Skills

Enchanting: Due to the combined strength of the souls that reside within him, Osgoth can imbue objects with enchantments of great strength; however, these enchantments usually fade over time, and last at most a year. His enchantments are powerful, but his skill is no contest against that of a true master.

Additional Abilities

Specific Planar Portal: By calling out to it, a portal to the demi-plane of Aselia opens, allowing Osgoth and any passengers he wishes to take to go to the ruins of the once great city. The portal can open in one of three places: 1) the guildhall of the Shadows Eternal, 2) In the ruins of Kale Manor, or 3) in the blasted ruins of the Temple of Light.
