Alex is and isn’t a full vampire. Should one test his blood on a normal day, he would be considered a full vampire, but at times of extreme distress or emotion, Alex will change form, taking on wings of black velvet with hundreds of joints to allow the wings to twist and turn and pull him into any direction in the air and a muscular googleplon structure that can move at any corporeal speed and use strengths greater than that of his own arms.
