Born alongside his brother Kai Shimatori, Night had passed the most extreme tests the world had to offer. An angel that had hopscotched between lives, dwelling on the Astral Plane between reincarnations, one day he was brought into the family of the Shimatori.

A look into the past
In the begining there was only chaos. Then out of the void appeared Erebus, the unknowable place where death dwells, and Night. All else was empty, silent, endless, darkness. Then somehow Love was born bringing a start of order. From Love came Light and Day. Once there was Light and Day, Gaea, the earth appeared. Then Erebus slept with Night, who gave birth to Ether, the heavenly light, and to Day the earthly light. Then Night alone produced Doom, Fate, Death, Sleep, Dreams, Nemesis, and others that come to man out of darkness. Meanwhile Gaea alone gave birth to Uranus, the heavens. Uranus became Gaea's mate covering her on all sides. Together they produced the three Cyclopes, the three Hecatoncheires, and twelve Titans. However, Uranus was a bad father and husband. He hated the Hecatoncheires. He imprisoned them by pushing them into the hidden places of the earth, Gaea's womb. This angered Gaea and she ploted against Uranus. She made a flint sickle and tried to get her children to attack Uranus. All were too afraid except, the youngest Titan, Cronus. Gaea and Cronus set up an ambush of Uranus as he lay with Gaea at night. Cronus grabed his father and castrated him, with the stone sickle, throwing the severed genitales into the ocean. The fate of Uranus is not clear. He either died, withdrew from the earth, or exiled himself to Italy. As he departed he promised that Cronus and the Titans would be punished. From his spilt blood came the Giants, the Ash Tree Nymphs, and the Erinnyes. From the sea foam where his genitales fell came Aphrodite. Cronus became the next ruler. He imprisoned the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires in Tartarus. He married his sister Rhea, under his rule the Titans had many offspring. He ruled for many ages. However, Gaea and Uranus both had prophesied that he would be overthrown by a son. To avoid this Cronus swallowed each of his children as they were born. Rhea was angry at the treatment of the children and ploted against Cronus. When it came time to give birth to her sixth child, Rhea hid herself, then she left the child to be raised by nymphs. To concel her act she wrapped a stone in swaddling cloths and passed it off as the baby to Cronus, who swallowed it. This child was Zeus. He grew into a handsome youth on Crete. He consulted Metis on how to defeat Cronus. She prepaired a drink for Cronus design to make him vomit up the other children. Rhea convinced Cronus to accept his son and Zeus was allowed to return to Mount Olympus as Cronus's cupbearer. This gave Zeus the opertunity to slip Cronus the specially prepaired drink. This worked as planned and the other five children were vomitted up. Being gods they were unharmed. They were thankful to Zeus and made him their leader. Cronus was yet to be defeated. He and the Titans, except Prometheus, Epimetheus, and Oceanus, fought to retain their power. Atlas became their leader in battle and it looked for some time as though they would win and put the young gods down. However, Zeus was cunning. He went down to Tartarus and freed the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires. Prometheus joined Zeus as well. He returned to battle with his new allies. The Cyclopes provided Zeus with lighting bolts for weapons. The Hecatoncheires he set in ambush armed with boulders. With the time right, Zeus retreated drawing the Titans into the Hecatoncheires's ambush. The Hecatoncheires rained down hundreds of boulders with such a fury the Titans thought the mountains were falling on them. They broke and ran giving Zeus victory. Zeus exiled the Titans who had fought against him into Tartarus. Except for Atlas, who was singled out for the special punishment of holding the world on his shoulders. However, even after this victory Zeus was not safe. Gaea angry that her children had been imprisoned gave birth to a last offspring, Typhoeus. Typhoeus was so fearsome that most of the gods fled. However, Zeus faced the monster and flinging his lighting bolts was able to kill it. Typhoeus was burried under Mount Etna in Sicily. Much later a final challenge to Zeus rule was made by the Giants. They went so far as to attempt to invade Mount Olympus, piling mountain upon mountain in an effort to reach the top. But, the gods had grown strong and with the help of Heracles the Giants were subdued or killed. Above you see the creation story of the Greek Pantheon. What you do not see is a secret that has been held from humanity for centuries. The goddess of the night and stars (Nyx), toward the beginning of her creation, was prematurely fated (betrothed) to hold the son of Apollo, the God of the Sun. The child was to be the reigning god of Earth and all of her creatures (Christianity's "God"). The reason you do not see this is what is about to be explained. As time passed, Nyx grew fond of Apollo, who held no love for anyone. Knowing of his premature engagement with the goddess, Apollo had vowed not to fall before the female, wishing that he would rule over the earth and her peoples. This did not sit well with Nyx. Using her feminine charm, the goddess subdued Apollo, luring him into her with lust, and making love. From this one night with the god, she was seeded. The god of the day (who is to be unnamed at this time) did not relish the fact that Nyx had fallen for another. This drove him to jealousy, and, soon after, hatred for Apollo. In his spite, Day cast a curse on Nyx's unborn son, dropping him to earth, and turning him into one of what was thought to be the most vile creatures on the face of the planet: A dog. Being of divinity, the child was not transformed into an underlying dog at all. Instead, he took the form of the majestic wolf. Centuries passed and the child's misplacement was mourned by Nyx, and enraged Apollo as more time strolled by. During this time the beast wondered the lands, trying to figure out who and where he was. Touched by Nyx's overwhelming love for her son, guilt took over Day, and he confessed his love for Nyx, but not before explaining what wrong he had done to the beautiful goddess. In his guilt, Day attempted to change the son of Apollo and Nyx into a god once more. This attempt failed, and the boy was left on Earth. After one millenium strolled by, Day had come to a conclusion. Mold the child into the image of the gods, grant him eternal youth, and explain that the child will reside among men as a secret, hiding as one of their own. Apollo, though still furious, agreed to this, but only because it involved the physical torture of the mortal races. But, alas, the attempt only half worked. The wolven ears and tail remained, and the child was still able to transform inbetween wolf and semi-man. He found great pleasure in this, though, for his time as a beast had shown him the beauty to be found in nature. Through her love for the child, on her first visit to the boy, Nyx named the boy Night, after herself. She also granted him wings, black in color, to let humans know of the demi-god's divinity. Due to the God of the Sun's blood running through Night's veins, a few of the wings gradiented into a white shade. On his tenth human birthday, Night's aunt (Apollo's sister), Artemis, the Goddess of the Moon, gave Night a sword. (Note: This is around the discovery of the land now known as Japan) The weapon was long, reaching to be 40" in steel, aside from the hilt and handguard. Bending near the center of the cleave, Night was granted the very first katana. On his twelth birthday, Night's mother blessed him with a new type of weapon, but would not allow him to have it until after his ascending into the realm of the Gods. This was due to the fact that these weapons were of another time period and of a whole nother era and part of the world. On his fifteenth birthday, Night was allowed back into the realm of the Gods, but only for one day. During the thousand years on earth that passed during that one day in the realm of the Gods, the creation of Nyx's gift had occured, and she was able to grant Night his blessings. Dual pistols, each long-berreled, one for shooting angelic energy, and the other for demonic energy would be able to forge together to create one gun. These gifts intrigued Night, and caused him to wish to learn the art of war. Also while in the realm of the Gods, Apollo gave Night the gift of two daggers. These daggers were forged with pure energies, and hallow in escence. If the blade of these knives were to touch any other body than Night's, the soul of that creature would be drained, and emptied into the daggers. This did not include earth, plants, and inanimate objects, though. Then, Night spoke with Aries, the God of War. With his new intriguement in the arts of combat, Night decided to have his fellow god train him to kill. Three hours (three hundred years) of this day in the realm of the Gods was devoted to the art of the sword, hand-to-hand combat, and projectile weapons/marksmanship.

Later in the day, Night met up with Day, the one who'd cast him onto earth just after birth. Threatening to use the newly attained weaponry on the God of Day, Night and the other came to an agreement. If Night would not trap Day in a dagger, Day would agree to comprimise one hour out of his twelve to Night. Further adding to this, Nyx also granted Night one of her twelve hours, and this is where we get our one hour of twilight during the day. After this was the throning of the Night, God of Twilight! Just before leaving the realm, Night met Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. Not unlike any other man, Night fell fast for the beauty, and laid with her. As thanks for his accompanying her into bed, Night was given the gifts of charm and (non-narcistic) beauty. This made Night a desirable male, ensuring him love during his time on the earth. Upon departure from the realm, Night slipped, and found himself being re-born into a family of demons known as the Shimatori, all of which had the innate desire for murder. Born a twin brother to Kai, Night grew up just as any other male would, but searched all his life for his lost equipment. Around his third year of life as a demon among men, Night discovered he was able to change into a wolf. About a year after this he learned of his wings... The hard way. This scared his new family's enemies, and caused him to be shunned as a monster by all, family and not. All... but his few siblings.

Among these siblings were Kai, Dagger, Akarui, Vicious, Kain, Tia, Flair, and Zinaria. These were the only who accepted the male for who he was, and helped him search for his lost gifts. It was not until he was about ten years old that Night discovered his daggers in a local flea market. Claiming it to be rightfully his, he just picked it up and left, slicing his way through anyone who stood in his way. Then, around the age of twelve he found his guns, which were assigned to him by accident during his time in the Russian-Japanese war. Later, around the age of fifteen, his closest brother, Kai Shimatori, showed Night to his katana. This was just before Kai's disappearance into the wide world of Eden.
